Rose & Blade

England, 1461. The roses are at war.
Rose & Blade is a physics-driven sword-fighting game in your browser. Every knight is an active ragdoll, with muscles pulling on a real body, keeping its balance and taking its steps. Every swing is yours: hold a mouse button to take an arm, then move the mouse to move the blade.
Inspired by Half Sword's mouse-driven, physics-based swordplay, in your browser, solo or with up to 15 others.
Move it slowly to change your guard. Sweep it fast through the middle to cut. Blades bite and stick, armour of cloth gives way, hands and limbs come off, and a wounded knight bleeds, staggers and tires. There are no health bars over your foes' heads. You read how they're doing from how they move.
Ways to fight
- Solo: Hold the tournament lists as a Yorkist man-at-arms against waves of Lancastrians. Each wave is quicker and tougher than the last, and the run ends when you fall.
- Co-op (2–4 players): Face the waves together. Every blade hurts whoever it lands on, so nothing stops you turning on each other.
- PvP (up to 16 players): York against Lancaster, eight a side. Each player has one life per round, and the first side to take three rounds wins.
Arm yourself
- Weapons: sword, mace, longsword or poleaxe
- Shields (with a one-handed weapon): buckler, round shield, heater shield or none
- Dress: a padded gambeson, or bare-chested in your hose
- Drop your weapon, or pick up a fallen knight's and fight on with it.

Multiplayer with no server
Multiplayer runs on NET: the players' browsers link straight to each other, and every link is encrypted end to end. There's no game server and no account. Host a fight, or quick-join an open one from the main menu. If whoever started the fight leaves, it carries on without them.

Before you play
- This is an early build/active experiment: things will change, and saves or settings may reset between versions. If there is enough interest, development will continue with more content, polish, and features.
- Desktop only, with a mouse.
- Chrome or Edge recommended: in fullscreen they stop Ctrl+W and F5 from closing the fight.
- Needs an internet connection.
- Contains graphic violence: blood, severed limbs and cut throats.
